Funding Update

I have received enough funding to get through the summer on a tight budget. In addition to the grant from Oberlin College, I have secured funds from the Graduate and Professional Student Organization, The Project on African Expressive Tradition in the Comparative Literature Department, and The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies all from Indiana University, Bloomington.

Hi Selina. I, too, have unforgettable memories of your grandmother's botanica and the family space behind the store where there was always hot food on the stove and where you and your brothers did your homework, had birthday parties and spent time with your grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins extended family and family friends. It was a unique decade and I'm so impressed and proud that you are preserving it through your work at Indiana.

Thanks for sharing your project with us. Although we plan to visit you in 2007, we'll definitely be back in 2008 for your Botanica Jardines.

We remember the Botanica but you also jogged our memory about the time we held a Passover seder there.

Selina, I clearly remember your birthday party and the party dress you were so proud of! Love, Aunt Felice
